Terms of Sale
Draft for review · last updated 17 October 2026
These terms apply to every order placed at umber.art. The seller is [legal entity name], [registered address], [company number], trading as Umber ("we", "us"). Contact: studio@umber.art.
By placing an order you agree to these terms. Nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Every garment is part of a strictly limited, individually numbered edition. Numbers are allocated in order of purchase and are not chosen. When an edition sells out it is never repeated.
Measurements published on the site are taken flat and may vary by one to two centimetres. Colours are shown as faithfully as screens allow.
Placing an order reserves your piece and its number. Until the drop ships, no payment is taken at checkout: we confirm the order by email with a secure payment link. A binding contract forms when your payment is accepted, and we send a confirmation at that point.
Prices are shown in pounds sterling, with euro and US dollar figures for guidance; you are charged in [GBP]. Prices include UK VAT where it applies and exclude delivery, which is shown before you confirm. Duties and import taxes outside the United Kingdom are your responsibility.
We may cancel an order and refund you in full if a piece is unavailable, if a price was shown in error, or if we cannot verify payment.
Dispatch times, rates and destinations are set out on the shipping page. Every order ships tracked. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery; ownership passes when we receive payment in full.
As a consumer you may cancel an order for any reason within 14 days of the day you receive it, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Tell us in writing at studio@umber.art within that period, then return the piece within 14 days of telling us. We refund the price and standard delivery within 14 days of receiving the piece back, or of your proof of posting.
Pieces must come back unworn, unwashed, with tags and the authentication card. We may reduce a refund if a piece has been handled beyond what is needed to decide whether to keep it. How to return a piece is on the returns page.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 our pieces must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If a piece is faulty, tell us as soon as you can; within 30 days you may choose a refund, and after that a repair or replacement, and if neither is possible a refund. Return postage for faulty goods is on us.
The artworks we draw on are in the public domain. Our embroidery designs, photographs, text and the Umber name and mark are ours, and may not be copied or used commercially without our written permission.
We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms or our negligence. We are not responsible for business losses. Nothing here limits our liability for death, personal injury, fraud or anything the law does not let us limit.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings there. The EU online dispute resolution platform is not available for UK sellers; if we cannot resolve a complaint between us, you can contact Citizens Advice.
